1997/98 San Marino GP Preview

by Markus Kruggel

After Interlagos proved once again that it's not one of Oliver's favourite tracks, the IAF1GPC treck moves on to Imola, where the two-time world champion has at least won a race in the past. However, it doesn't seem to be one of his *favourite* tracks either, as his record is by far better on other tracks as we will see before the next championship rounds. Apart from Oliver, Hans Gunnar Hansen is the only other active driver who achieved a podium finish on this track.

Imola is known to be a CC wreckage yard, but it also has a remarkable rate of retirements from human drivers. The nasty chicanes tend to sort out the fast drivers from the wannabes, and the fastest from last year outclassed the others by over a minute. Most drivers will probably pay a lot of time studying last year's logfile to see what the reason for this clear start-finish win from Oliver was in 1996/97.
